Equality B&NES – the voice of disabled people in Bath and North East Somerset

Equality B&NES speaks out about the experiences of disabled people to make our area a better place for us to live and work.

Our aim is to work with the organisations that we as disabled people use in our day to day lives to help them improve what they do so that we can live a full life.

Equality B&NES believes that disabled people, and people living with long term health conditions, should be able to contribute fully to life in Bath and North East Somerset.  Sadly this is not always possible.  Barriers (both physical obstacles and people’s attitudes) stop us doing what we would like, and we often don’t receive the support services we need.

Equality B&NES is our chance to help put things right.  We want everyone, from the Council to the corner shop, to understand how they can remove the obstacles they put in our way and provide support which puts us in control of our lives.  We aim to provide constructive feedback on where disabled people face barriers, and what can be done to remove them. 

We want people with all forms of disability and long term health conditions to join us and get involved.  No matter how old (or young!) you are, and whatever your background, we want to hear from YOU.  The more people we have involved, the more we can get changed.
