Ability Sports Association

Ability Sports Association (ASA) is a registered charity, which provides professionally coached sport and active recreation for disabled and disadvantaged children and adults in the West of England. ASA provides opportunities to develop clubs, festivals, tournaments, fun days, courses, leagues and cup competitions, catering for a variety of adapted sports and active recreation. ASA offers volunteering, training, accreditation and employment opportunities in sport and active recreation for all.

Action for Pensioners

A Voice for Older People in Bath & North East Somerset. The aim of Action for Pensioners is to improve the quality of life and provide a voice which is representative and inclusive for all people 55 or over living in Bath & North East Somerset. Action for Pensioners is run and controlled by the members. It is non-party political and non-sectarian. Membership is free, with a quarterly newsletter and is open to any B&NES resident aged 55 or over.

Bath & North East Somerset People First

Bath People First was set up by disabled people especially those with learning difficulties in Bath and North East Somerset. We support members to be involved in improving services locally and nationally. This happens by getting involved in work such as personal budgets, health, housing and employment.

We run training courses and groups for members to practise speaking with confidence. We work with other organisations so that the quality of life can get better for people with a learning difficulty.

Bath & North East Somerset Race Equality Council

Our work is focused on Bath and North East Somerset and deals with four broad topics: Casework - on racial discrimination and racial harassment. Community Development work. Sports Equality and Diversity Work.

  • Policy work - primarily with publicly funded organisations.
  • On Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs our casework deals with the individual's need for protection from physical attack and unfair discrimination - "safety" and "physical" needs.
  • Our Community Development work meets needs for "safety", "belonging" and "esteem".
  • Our Sports Equality work meets needs of "belonging", "esteem" and "actualization". Our policy work deals with needs of "actualization".

Bath 18+ Gateway Club

The 18+ Club is part of the Gateway Club and provides a weekly social group for a small group of disabled and non-disabled people between 18 and 25, who live in the Bath and North East Somerset area. The group, who meet every Wednesday evening, decides the programme of activities. For more details contact Ann Frisby.

Bath Association for Disabled People

The Bath Association for the Disabled is an umbrella group for around 35 different disability organisations in the area. They organise meetings three times a year, during which representatives from different organisations meet up to exchange information and views and to discuss issues important to the association. The association administers a trust fund, which can be used to help towards the costs of individuals and groups. They also organise a swimming group for disabled people that meet once weekly. You can contact the association for information and advice about disabled groups in the area.

BEACh & Friends Group is a community group which exists to support and serve the needs of the East Asian and Chinese Community in Bath and North East Somerset and surrounding areas. We are a bridge between users and service providers and the wider community.

Bath Junior Gateway Club

Bath Junior Gateway Club is a youth club for disabled, special needs and non-disabled children who often have difficulties in enjoying a full social life outside school. Many cannot go out alone and are unable to mix with other young people of their own age without help and support.

Bath Junior Gateway Club has been set up to serve the young people from the Bath area who would like to join in a wide range of fun activities every Wednesday between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Centre 69, Penhill Road, Weston, Bath.
