A popular service run by Bath & North East Somerset Council which is offering door-to-door community transport for residents who cannot access public transport has been extended to cover Batheaston and Bathford on two days each week.
The Bath Dial-a-Ride service now includes Batheaston and Bathford on Mondays and Fridays (except Bank Holidays) between 9.30am and 2.30pm. It is available for people to go shopping, visit key city destinations and play an active part in community life.
Councillor Roger Symonds (Lib-Dem, Combe Down), Cabinet Member for Transport, said, “Our substantial commitment to local community transport and dial-a-ride services provides a lifeline for people who cannot access public transport, like older and disabled people. The Bath service that Bath & North East Somerset Council runs has been very popular and we are very pleased to be extending it to serve residents in Batheaston and Bathford.”
Any return journey will cost £4 and a single journey will cost £2. Diamond Travelcard holders are entitled to a 50% discount.
Kevin Turner, Council Service Supervisor, Passenger Fleet, said, “Our service gets an excellent reception from the people who use it. This extension to Batheaston and Bathford is being achieved without any detriment to our existing high level of service to our 445 existing registered users in the former City of Bath area.”
The Council financially supports a range of community transport projects across the district and over 81,000 passenger trips are made on these each year.
